Loved this book! Enjoyable story with likable characters. I really enjoyed LaVyrle Spencer's books and hate it that she retired from writing. This one and "Then Came Heaven" were my all time favorites by this author.

It was hard to warm up to the heroine. She was a bit of a cranky snob at first. She got better as the book progressed.

This leans a little more towards women's fiction with the focus more on the heroine Tess, her career, and how she integrates with her family life. Our hero Kenny doesn't get many povs but when he does appear on the pages, you'll love the heck out of him.

It was super refreshing to have the heroine with the rich glamorous lifestyle and how the dynamics were a bit different because of that. The author does an A+ job of bringing you into the heroine's world. I hate to be all, oldies did it better, but I can't help but compare the obvious research and how fantastic the author flushed out Tess, story, and characters, to how a fair amount of newer publications skimp on this; it does wonders in helping you sink into the story. There were a couple times the details slowed things down but overall, I was fully immersed into this world.

I would definitely read another by this author again, a few are highly recommending Hummingbird. The romance wasn't prevalent enough on the pages for me but when it was, I liked how they sparked off one another. If you're looking for a heroine focused with emotional family dynamics, this was fantastically written.

I liked how specific this book was. You can picture everything perfectly. I thought the character development was predictable as was the story line.

Predictable but a cute read.

As a country fan, I found this book very interesting. The relationship that the main character, Mac, makes with the next door neighbour's daughter is endearing and makes me wish that I had had that kind of friendship/mentorship with someone when I was young.

• I didn’t like this book at all as I didn’t feel connected to any of the characters and the way it was written was dull

• The book is about how a girl who used to live in a small town comes back for a few weeks to take care of her mother and meets with the boy that she made fun of in high school - I thought that the book showed that the author researched what she was going to write about as at the end of the book when Tess returns to Nashville, it’s shown clearly what Tess’ life is like being a successful musician and the amount of work she has to put in; I didn’t really like how Kenny and Tess interacted as it was boring and annoying and I didn’t like how the way Tess treated him in high school was forgotten about as she was really stuck up and mean to him but when they meet again in this book it’s as if nothing happened; there wasn’t really much shown in the book as even when things did happen, like Tess’ niece’s wedding, it wasn’t shown in detail

• I didn’t like the characters either as even if I thought that Casey could have been a good character, she wasn’t shown enough to show her actual personality as most of the time when she was shown, it was all about how exciting something she did was and there wasn’t really any scenes where she acted in a more natural way; the main characters were boring and the amount of restraint they had over each other was a bit over the top as the fact that they had very different lives was valid but them constantly talking about Faith was really annoying as on several occasions Kenny said that they weren’t really together and yet this issue was dragged out until the end; there weren’t many side characters and when they did appear in a scene, they never really did or said anything

• I still want to try to read another book by this author as I liked the last book I read by her but in this book I think it was the fact that one of the main characters was famous that I didn’t like
