This is honestly my new favorite book. I loved the story and all the characters are so cool. I appreciated the short chapters and loved the overall set up of the book (having the time, the tools, different color pages for the flashbacks, etc.). I thought the mix of writing styles worked really well and helped me to read for longer periods of time. What really elevated this book to god-tier status was the last three pages — the resources & hotlines and the note on endometriosis. Tess Sharpe has written a thrilling and emotional book and has taken great care in doing so.

This is absolutely one of the best fucking books ive ever read. It is so powerful and informative while also keeping a fun fiction story. This book goes deep into the topics of surviving abuse and the way it shows Noras past and how that effects her now years later is incredible. The plot, storytelling, themes, characters, and everything else in this book are incredible and it will definitely be one of my life long favorites.

This was really tense and at times emotionally hard to read but it had a beautiful combination of a twisty plot and real, heartwarming character development and found family. Plus pretty solid Own Voices queer and chronic illness rep!
The main reason I'm ranking it as 4.5 and not 5 stars is that it pulls the last act "oh no, I can't lose my moral righteousness by killing someone, even for the safety of myself and my loved ones." Which at that point I entirely didn't believe was true of Nora and it felt kind of like a lazy save. It would've been so easy to avoid too with some other reason for Nora not shooting Duane!

(f/f, YA, thriller). This book had me entranced all the way through. The author does an incredible job narrating, and the story, of a bank heist hostage situation interspersed with the mc’s history, is excellent. It solidified what I already knew, which is that I love found family stories so much, and I love “I adore my romantic partner but my friends mean just as much to me” even more. So good.
