I struggled with this memoir. My review is less about her life but how she presented it. She’s lived a hard life between her childhood, media, etc. She’s been able to do amazing things through all of the adversity which really has not been highlighted by media. I appreciated learning her philanthropic ways. This was probably my favorite parts were hearing about all she did for the world in lieu of all she faced in front of the public eye.

My problem is the way she presented herself and her abilities. She was intelligent. Always top of her class. Also start athlete also in the band also an actor. Also had a photographic memory. Also read a lot also super empathetic also a free spirit also super into religion also a big partier also a great mom. also looked 12.  also looked old.  also looked beautiful. also cared about her appearance.  also a tomboy. I’m not sure if this was her way to overcompensate for the common misconception of her. But it felt too much and at times contradictory.  It felt more like a resume for her, but also felt unrealistic. It became very much tell not show, a list of what’s she done with no impact to her life or how she feels. I wanted to know how things impacted her, how she felt through the misidentification of the media, the misogyny, and honestly why her portrayal of herself was so different than her personality.  Was it the alcohol? Is this why she's sober? Was it acting?

Lastly, I felt the writing was all over the place especially towards the end. She would write short and choppy sentences, jumping between relationships and timelines very quickly. At one point she had both boys and the next she was back to being pregnant. It was hard to follow at times and I think took away from her message.

I don't rate memoirs/autobiographies but if I did. 5 stars. I learned so much about Pamela and her outlook on life. She is such a well rounded human being and hearing her stances on certain topics and how she viewed herself throughout her time in Hollywood was nice to see. Also, listening to the audio and her voice was top notch.

I was not expecting this book to be so existential but I really enjoyed it. I love how it was so honest and written entirely by Pamela herself. I’ve always looked up to her for being such a strong and empowered woman and this book just strengthened those opinions. I loved her poetry scattered between her story, it helped to really understand her emotion and intelligence. She’s gone through a lot of adversity in her life and it’s so nice to see how she’s overcome it. I highlighted so much of this book, there were so many anecdotes of beautifully written wisdom sprinkled throughout her inner thoughts and experiences. I’ll definitely be coming back to this one whenever I need to trust the process of life and self exploration. I also really admire her parenting style and just grace overall. Towards the end of the book I started to feel like I had gotten everything I could out of it and became slightly bored. However, I’m really glad I finished through the epilogue and acknowledgements because there were things she wrote that I think I needed to hear. Overall it was a great read the only reason for the medium rating was towards the end I felt as though I was anticipating finishing the read.
