"So," J.D. said, with one eyebrow raised, "did you just come to spin around at my doorway or did you want something?"

Charlotte “Charlie” Donovan knows exactly what she wants for Christmas: Teo Ortiz. The only problem is—he barely knows she exists.

But Charlie has a plan: rig the paper’s Secret Santa and win his heart with the perfect gift. The catch? She has no idea what to get him. Enter J.D. Ortiz–Teo’s cousin, and possibly the most annoying person on the planet.

Yet, the more time Charlie spends with J.D., the more she starts to wonder: Does she really know what, or rather who, she wants for Christmas?

I happened to see an e-deal on Twitter, have wanted to read it for a year, and decided that now was the time for something light and warming. While I could have done without quite so much "does he like me? doesn't he like me?" it's true to teen crushes and fits the setting. Also, J.D. is the perfect blend of cute, quirky, and fun-loving. 10/10 would put a ring on that.

Lovers of Hallmark movies will devour this in one sitting.

I know this is an "enemies-to-lovers" esque story, but our protagonist is so unlikable that I really couldn't enjoy the story. The love interest and her yessir friend were really the main saving graces of this book to me.

This is like a Hallmark Christmas movie in YA novel form! So sweet! So fluffy! So Christmas!

Super cute (I am a SUCKER for holiday YA), but also super predictable. You know exactly how the whole book is going to pan out after the first page, but luckily you don't read a book titled "My New Crush Gave to Me" trying to be surprised

I couldn't get past how teens don't talk like this. I could see too much of the heavy lifting behind the storytelling for this to really work for me.

Cute and predictable.

From the moment I met Charlie and J.D. in My New Crush Gave to Me, I was instantly hooked and shipping the crap out of them. Charlie kept thinking the perfect guy would be just like her.. but she didn't realize that her ex, who was exactly like her, didn't work out for a reason. Opposites attract people. So, of course, once I met Charlie and then J.D. - I shipped them. WHY? Because opposites attract people!

Now this book was completely cute and predictable. It has to deal with this whole secret santa thing but it also has to deal with the most outrageous and eye-rolling birthday party. Now I've never been to party where you had to bring a date.. so yeah, I have no idea how I would feel if that was an actual thing. I did love J.D. but Charlie just ended up annoying and frustrating me at some points. I get that christmas is a big thing, especially with my family - but ugh, it's like she just couldn't accept that her mom was busy. I get family traditions.. but work and life happens.

Trust me, I would know. My birthday is two days before christmas and my friends are either travelling to see their family or my own family has to work. I never have a plan for that day because nothing is set in stone. I've learned to go with the flow and I love the holiday's for that reason.

Overall, I'm glad that I dove into this book because I needed a good christmas related book to bring me into the spirits. My decorations are up, cookies are baked, and I've been listening to christmas music since halloween - I love this month and holiday. I can't wait for my next holiday book.

Just an easy, breezy, cheesy Christmas read and I loved it. A few deviations from what you knew was gonna happen, and a swoon-worthy ending!

It was described to me as a Hallmark movie and I would agree! :) It was a cute, fun read. I enjoyed the story in this one and the characters quirky ways.

This was a fun holiday take on the hate to love trope. I loved and identified with type A Charlie so much. Morgan was the perfect best friend for her and I thought they were well written and developed characters. The Ortiz cousins were so different and I enjoyed how they played off each other and complemented Charlie in different ways. The banter between JD and Charlie was perfect and just added to the swoon level. If you want a fun, quick and swoony read for the holidays, I highly recommend it.
