There is no redeeming qualities when it comes to Evie in my mind, that woman is off her rocker. I did like Nick, though, which made it more complicated. Also the spice hit well.

Dark Romance, Enemies to Lovers, 3 3/4 🔥

I liked that the lady main character had the morally gray traits! Also the wizard of oz/wicked references were amazing. Always makes me smile. I didn’t love the Mr. Main character I didn’t find him to be particularly interesting but I don’t think that was the intent. The focus is more on other characters growth and drive.

3.5 stars! ⭐️

Very very very spicy, quick, and easy read! 🌶️

A cool alternate universe twist on the wizard of oz! Thanks Jessica for the recommendation! I loved slowly trying to figure out who each character represented in the original story!

The only issue I had with the book was that I didn’t necessarily like or agree with how it ended. But other than that it’s a very wild ride!

Side note: Even though the entire story is completely based in Illinois, I 100% read this entire mobster book in my head as Buddy the Cake Boss would. Hoboken style BABY! 🍰

In the beginning, I thought the book would feel stereotypical, but I found that everytime I turned a page I got more and more invested. The relationship between the two main characters captivated me and was the reason I decided to stick it out. I'm glad I did, because the story got so much better the deeper you read.

(mentions of the story)
The twist of Cody being in the FBI at the end came as a shock to me, which is something I look for in books. I've always been able to predict a twist ending very easily, but this one actually managed to blow me away.

My one critique has to be the overuse of the same sexual terms. The sex scenes were great, don't get me wrong, but could at times feel slightly repetitive.

If it wasn’t for the smut, it wouldn’t be worth reading. While an interesting idea, the fractured (more like shattered) telling of the Wizard of Oz could use some character development.
I appreciated the idea of the female m/c being the true villain, however the entire book is predictable and nothing new.
