I'm not a romance book, a lover. I do like romance. I think it's very cute and bubbly and it can be really easy and fun to read. When I originally bought this book I bought it because the story of this girl who is kind of a an outcast ends up falling in love with this guy and for some reason I resonated with that because I was very big on kind of sheltering myself and being alone and then here I am now and there's the guy in my life. This was such a fun and cute and easy read. It only took me about three ish. Maybe 4ish days to finish and I loved every moment of reading this book. Granted. Like I said, I'm not a bigger romance but like a lover or reader so there were a few points in times where I was just like not feeling it kind of barely paid attention to what I was reading. But the overall story and the overall plot of this book I absolutely fell in love with. I fell in love with Eliza. I fell in love with Len and I think there's such a cute couple. While I fell in love with the whole aspect of bringing in the culture background for the characters as well. I think overall this was nice and fun. Easy read for me and I'm glad that I picked it up and read it.

While the story line isn’t especially gripping, the writing is super intelligent, the perspectives are crystal clear and it gives you a sense of longing for the same moral and intellectual convictions presented by the main female characters in the book.

the book (especially in terms of characterization) is not above average. MC is soo annoying.
so funny how eliza is like "oh man, i'm falling in love with the face of the patriarchy" when SHE MADE LEN INTO THE FACE OF THE PATRIARCHY. girl, NO ONE was calling him the face of the patriarchy but you. the dude did nothing wrong besides make a potentially uninformed decision before running for the position. maybe some people don't want a tyrant who hates everyone as their EIC!
it's annoying how the book equates feminism with being independent or just... ~not in a relationship with a man~. feminism is the right of women to choose whatever they want to do and not be seen as lesser than for doing it. they can be in a relationship. they can not be in a relationship. relationship status on its own means nothing abt your stance on feminism.
the entire book just tried to put a bunch of issues that people sort of have to support or at least, pretend to support (diversity, feminism) to become famous. and it worked.

okay i really don't know how to feel about this book. it covered so many topics but it didn't go into depth for a lot of them, especially that part where they're slutshaming that girl- it kind of left me with a sour taste in my mouth. also i really didn't like the beauty vs brains thing?? like you can have both. it's not that deep. you're not better than someone else because you only wear cardigans and you obsessively care about your grades. i also wish we got more winona/serena interactions, i thought they were interesting characters. but the romance was cute at least
