3 stars to the whole "How feminism can go wrong when you're a teenager who thinks they knows so much, and are a very significant person in the universe" plot.

Huge NO to the extremely disturbing prose of "exposing someone else's private thoughts to the whole community" to burn them in the flames of embarrassment and further social consequences as a revenge, because you are just too otherworldly to exhibits signs of being offended, let alone confront the offender.
How the heck did they go on getting along later? As someone with personal experience with a friend sharing our private conversation out of context that made me look like an absolute lunatic, it is transparently clear that the author has no experience of being shamed like that! I practically had difficulty breathing while reading the first few chapters, and just couldn't understand how anyone, including characters and the author could let that off the hook and stick to feminism instead. There are too many psychological problems going on with the characters to just make it about a misinterpretation of feminism.

This was fun but it felt like it was trying to check a lot of boxes. I also felt like the relationship went from 0-60 pretty quickly without much of a build up?

I liked it just didn’t love it.

Eliza Quan has worked to obtain the position of editor in chief at her school paper. However, when Len DiMartile, a washed-up baseball jock decides to run, Eliza’s hard work goes down the drain. It doesn’t matter that she is more qualified or currently runs the editing section of the paper because Len is what the people want, a man. Throughout her understanding of women’s rights and fighting for feminism, Eliza realizes she likes Len, which puts her in a tricky position.

I loved this book from the start. At first many may think Eliza’s grumpy exterior makes her an unlikeable character, but her personality shows how hard it is to be a woman of color in society. The academic rivals to lovers trope is also one of my absolute favorites! I loved the banter between Eliza and Len and appreciated his take on running for the position of editor. Eliza’s character grows a lot throughout the book, and she demonstrates what it truly means to be a feminist. Not only is female empowerment important, but we need to keep the environment positive for all. By lifting women, we shouldn’t be bringing down men. I was deeply moved by the message of the story and loved reading this adorable romance.
