Some parts of this were a bit cringey but overall a very cute story. I can see how this would be really good to have read when I was a teenager
accidentally stayed up until past 4am finishing this im so tired but one of the best ya contemporaries I've read in a while! the feminism was a little too girlboss for me at times but i liked the discussions about intersectionality and girl on girl hate/name calling and overall good and realistic teen discussions/actions
I do love a bit of YA fiction every now and again.
This is a high school story about Eliza, a hardworking, ambitious girl who works for the school paper and really wants to be the paper's editor in chief. The plan is foiled by Len, a character who you slowly get to know during the course of the story.
The book is full of feminism, drama and interesting thinking points. The main character is brilliant- I love her ambition, the fact she doesn't care about a lot of superficial things and her authenticity.

This book is a strong 3.5. I absolutely love the premise of the book. The main character love the school newspaper that she works at. She is really good at it and tries to inspire others to be good as well. When she tries out for the editor in chief position, she looses to a way less qualified boy who seems to not really care about the newspaper. This sparks some serious discussions about feminism in the entire school. The girl then tries to get back her rightfully deserved position and leads feminist protests. This is very similar to Moxie.
I love how the book discusses various ways to be a feminist. The book also discusses how even women who call themselves feminists can have sexist and misogynistic views. I also love that the main character is prickly. She is knows what she wants and is not afraid to tell people.
I do have some issues with the book. The love interest was not really that great. I wish they did not make the one guy a symbol of the patriarchy(in reality it is not just one guy). I also wish that the book would have had a bigger discussion on how the patriarchy affects everybody.
With that being said, I think this is a good book to offer people who are just starting to understand feminism.

I am totally not calling this a romance because no. I have a hard time getting into books that deal with misogyny since it makes me so angry but I loved Eliza, sometimes she went about stuff in the wrong way but I think that's a perfect portrayal of a teenager trying her best. Because of the way that she is portrayed, you can't really hold anything against her. She was completely right to be angry about the EOC position and the stupid bot had no right to it and he kinda made me mad throughout the entire series. He was like the "good boy" but I hated him. He refused to actually see things from her side and tried to get a rise out of her because flirting? no thank you. Go away. All in all, I can't say this book was amazing but it wasn't bad either. It is very teenybopper but it's not a bad book when it comes to feminism.
