I received a free copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press; all opinions expressed are exclusively my own.

I absolutely loved this book, so so much. I loved Marlowe and her friends and their relationships, every part of it, as well as her family and the found family she makes along the way. The romance is sweet and classic in a non-traditional way (figure out that oxymoron) that I massively enjoyed, and I adore the references to classic literature. I deeply appreciated Marlowe as a character, her thought processes and how she comes to terms with her first relationship. This is a lovely, lovely read!

For sensitive readers, there are depictions of child neglect, emotional abuse, bullying (mostly off page), alcohol consumed by minors, references to off-screen sexual relationships in vague terms, and toxic relationships.

I loved this book. And I knew I would so I put it off. Because Serena Kaylor’s last book was so extremely wonderful, that I was devastated to have to wait so long for another one.

But man, Marlowe felt like me in high school. Minus the mushroom facts. That’s never been my special interest. I was her in the sense of feeling like an outsider looking in and settling for less because what if it’s all that’s offered.

And man, Ash is the broody, romantic poster boy for The Cure and all of our teenage dreams.

I loved this book and if it weren’t after 1am and I didn’t have to wake up for work in a few short hours, I could wax poetic about Kaylor’s beautiful writing and how she makes math sound wistful and infuses scientific imagery into describing teenage longing.

Seriously, snatch this book up—it’s easily one of the most adorable love stories of 2024!

This book was such a great read! The characters literally jumped off the page. Scene development was so good I was actually in every scene. I had a movie going through my mind while reading. I love when a book can do that.

I love Marlowe and how she processes her thoughts. I absolutely loved Odette and Poppy, her two best friends. Ash is my new book boyfriend, he was such a great person. How he accepted Marlowe was so great.

I think I have found another great author.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martins Press for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

4.5

Yes, the plot will be familiar to anyone who has read a rom-com book in the last decade -- but as a late-diagnosed autistic woman who was broken up with randomly (with no closure!) as a teenager by a boy named Josh, this book was both comforting and healing in a way I didn't know I needed. For 25 years, I have wondered why my soulmate just stopped loving me one day...and now it's clear I missed a few things along the way.

I loved the friendships in The Calculation of You and Me, I loved the family relationships, and I loved all the "behind the curtain" romance talk (every conversation with bookstore-owner Sloane felt like breaking the fourth wall!). Ash is adorable, as you would expect in this kind of book, but the real love story is Marlowe discovering her true self and figuring out what SHE wants from life.

(I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.)

Oh gosh. I cannot say enough good things about this book. The premise intrigued me as I have a child on the spectrum and was so interested to see how the characters were portrayed.

I LOVED this book. I've already recommended it to friends and told them they must get it as soon as it hits the shelves in June. It's so great. Marlowe is such a well developed character; you really feel her deep down. Ash is another awesome character. A young man who purposely and intentionally reads romance? *swoon* The fact that he's so "different" just adds to his appeal. Marlowe doesn't see what everyone else sees at first and her awakening is just brilliantly done.

Pick this book up immediately. It's worth it!

This was a sweet YA romance! I always appreciate a romance with a neurospicy main character because I feel like it's not super common in modern romance. And I also felt like Marlowe was written very well. My main hold up with this book is that I just didn't feel the romance was very believable, but it was still an enjoyable read.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book.

Good YA romance book. I love a good goth boy. I'm proud of Marlow for realizing Josh was an asshat. I felt like i was in highschool reading this. It was so cute. 4 stars only because I feel it could of been a little shorter

This was just the cutest book! If you enjoy stem romance, that’s on the YA side of things this book is perfect for you. I really enjoyed the neurodivergent representation as well as the supporting cast of characters. It didn’t hurt that. I too have a strong dislike for the classic Wuthering Heights. All of the nods to romance, tropes, and book lovers was also a welcome bonus. A quick fun lighthearted read that touches on the heavier, subject of toxic romance in a way that can be relatable to young and old alike. Thank you to Wednesday books for the gifted copy.
