This was an endearing (and somewhat cheesy) read that will tug at your heartstrings a bit. Written primarily from the perspective of a cat, I have to admit the author adopted a rather stereotypical personality for this cat (a bit defiant and very sassy), but it wasn’t eye-rolling or anything. Cat owners, this might get a chuckle out of you, knowing how cats can be, haha.

The story itself isn’t anything to write home about, but it’s a quiet one in which the cat reflects a bit on life and one’s relationships to others. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it was philosophical in nature, but it definitely made me think about the brevity of life in the grand scheme of things.

I will say that I didn’t expect the story to go the direction it did towards the end (and not in a disappointing way). I think given the overall tone of the book, it was a small surprise.

Overall, a calming read and one I’d especially recommend to cat lovers.

Narrated by the cat, the book will captivate you from the first sentence on. You’ll catch yourself smiling as a beautiful friendship forms. The many stories we take a trip through are incredibly written. This book will break your heart at the most unexpected moment, in a most unexpected turn. Despite the heartbreak, it’s a very special must-read!

A quick enough read but a heart wrenching one. I cried multiple times (much to my husband's amusement). A sweet, emotional, beautiful story. I will miss Saturo & Nana.

CW/TW: Terminal illness, car accident
Age Rating: 12+ (Targeted towards adults)

- This is a beautiful book.
- I loved Nana's narration. He was really sassy :)
- The characters were really interesting. Also, Satoru was really nice.
- It was interesting to see what effect Satoru had on the people around him.
- The end is so sad, but it wraps up really nicely.

all I'm gonna say is: if you don't like crying around others, read this alone.

(be prepared for this book to give you all the feels & stay on your mind forever)
