Lower elementary kids would find this book very funny.

The story is fun and the illustrations are delightful, but the rhyming text is so inconsistent and convoluted that I wouldn't choose this as a read-aloud.

Fun read aloud for preschoolers, who quickly picked up the “Library books are NOT for eating” chorus. Some of the vocab is over their heads, but grownups will giggle at the wordplay. The kids definitely said Ms. Bronti couldn’t be in our library, because then we wouldn’t be able to borrow any books!

Cute book to spark discussion about book care.
