"It's a thing worth knowing: that so rarely do we discover that any living creature is simpler than we thought."

The illustrations in the hardback edition are wonderful, as is the writing. I liked the mix of facts, mythology and personal reflections.
Each chapter is self contained and relatively short which makes this a great book for reading in short spurts.
