So I haven’t read any previous Black Widow series. Well, that’s not quite accurate. I’ve started one or two, but never seem to finish them. Still, I wanted to give this series a try because I’m stubborn, and because I like what they’ve been doing with her character lately.
So far I’m happy with what they’ve shown us. The series deals with events that happened at the end of Civil War II, for fairly obvious reasons. They can’t really avoid a few of those major facts. Speaking of, if you’re not up to date on that event then this will spoil things for you. Consider yourself warned.
I liked the tone of the issue, in the beginning, it felt oddly light, despite what they were dealing with. As time went on the tone got darker. It did a great job of showing us the inner demons that Natasha has been struggling with.

I'm half and half with this. Shocked that such implied violence against women is presented by two women writers - imagine if this was written by men. Outrage for sure.

The other side of me is understandably supportive of Nat going after predators as most of her solo run prior to this focused on her protecting the Dark Room girls and even before, her commitment to protecting Sally Anne way back when. Also, pantsuit Nat is great.

We will see moving forward how good the story is. Split in the middle for me.

Not a fan of the art at all but I’ve missed Nat so I’ll deal with it for now
