Okay, aside from the insane number of trigger/content warnings, this book was kinda “meh” for me. It was decently written and the characters were relatable if you’ve been through similar things.
However, I found the plot to be drab. Don’t get me wrong, I understand that this is a simulation of someone’s recovery from an eating disorder. But as a story, it definitely wasn’t for me. I found myself becoming increasingly angry with the representation of teenage girls with anorexia or bulimia. Maybe this is more of a me issue though since it’s only been 3 to 4 years since my struggles. Who knows.
Overall, it’s not something I will be rereading. To be honest, I’m surprised it got a 3-star rating for me but I ran it through the CAWPILE system and that’s what happened!
PS: I did read this book after Tiger which, if you read my review for that, I found to be absolutely exceptional. So, perhaps this is why I was so underwhelmed by the writing here.
