I don’t read a lot of novellas because I don’t usually feel like I get a good enough feel for the characters but I did with this one and I loved them. Extremely romantic and cute.

Wasn’t that what love was, really? Doing beautiful, funny things, just for the hell of it. Because you wanted to. Because the other person made you feel like you could.

3.5 stars rounded up.

The only reason this works as a novella is because the reader is dropped into the middle of a flirtation that has been going on for a long time. The dual points of view also help establish the relationship. Were it not for those details, the book would read like a lesbian stereotype.

Super cute, but I felt like I kept waiting for ✨something✨ to happen and it never did. HOWEVER. I will GLADLY take gays being happy and there being absolutely zero conflict.

Anita!!!!!!!!

This was another amazing piece of work where characters overcome their emotional problems and find each other!

I loved Mal and June's story; it was so sweet. These were characters with history already, and I loved their plans for each other for Pride and how they had to be courageous to finally be together.

This was another tiny story where I knew the characters would keep on living and being happy and real people.

Anita just creates such real characters who I love so much, and I love them so much for the amazing queer love they write!

I loved this whole trilogy. I would have liked just a little more of this one. I liked that the characters were older than most romance protagonists and liked their dynamic. These novellas are great at breaking the mold and bringing something fresh to the romance genre. There’s now a book that collects all three of these books plus a short story and essay under the title Moonlighters. Highly recommend!!
