piccoline's review against another edition
5.0
Provocative and masterful exploration of Martin Luther King and Malcolm X. Cone's marvelous at placing them in context, and showing how their thought and strategies changed over time. They were both very complex figures, and Cone also writes convincingly of the dangers of idolizing them (and any other leaders).
Cone also wisely peppers the text with many, many quotations and anecdotes by and about the two. You'll almost certainly walk away with a more nuanced and appreciative understanding of both men at the end. You will also almost certainly feel challenged to work harder towards the dreams they each had of a world so much better than the travesty we're currently seemingly content with.
