Couldn't get over the casual reference to rape, telling everyone about it and using it as a main plot line & character development point.

I was really confused at the beginning, the names of characters were just thrown out their with like no follow up info as to who they are.

3rd POV

Zero spice in this book

for a nine book series the friendship and the over coming her trauma happened pretty quick. three years of avoiding ppl all of sudden she changes. one minute the she was hesitant to talk to ppl and be friends with anyone next minutes she let a lot ppl in. also ppl were just sharing her trauma story with out asking which was invasive. a person trying protect herself or other ppl would at least fight that imo.

i know one of mmcs is ta meaning he is probably young but he’s still her ta that grades her work. it a yuck for me.

i think the magic and stuff is cool but not worth me going through nine books. i thought it was trilogy.

Eh, Something Wicked was just okay. I feel like I was a bit confused with some things that were mentioned due to not reading the series before this. Which makes me feel like I should've just stopped reading this book and start the series before. It never happened though.

Besides being confused throughout the entire book, we get to meet Mika. She's an okay character and I thought her power was kind of interesting. Yet, that's all for me. I mean, yeah, she has the potential to kill anyone and everyone but with the help of her friends they try to control her powers. Other than that, not much happens in this book.

I guess you could say it had a few twists and turns but without knowing what happened in the series before... I couldn't be honest and say that they amazed me. It was just an okay book with some okay-ish characters. Might dive into the next book if I end up reading the fox series.. but the ending didn't really make me want to do so.

Intriguing

I had a hard time falling into this book, as information is dropped that pertains to the Fox series, which I read quite some time ago. Fortunately, that mild confusion doesn’t last long and things pick up - and a few answers are thrown into the mix.

There is an oppressive darkness that seeps through these pages, even as cover of the scenes are painted light. Mika is recovering from a 3 year old rape, which needs to be noted for all readers. There are no descriptions or flash backs, but it is known, and the event is not pushed to the way side like it so often is in fiction. Instead, it’s recognized as the life altering and pivotal moment it really is, and harshly respected as such. I appreciated that.

As for the story itself, it’s a slow burn PNR RH in the new adult realm. It’s a university tale, but it doesn’t follow the same pattern as so many school settings out there. Some, of course, but it doesn’t feel as formulaic. I am intrigued to see what happens next.

Slow burn PNR RH, NA, third person, single POV, cliffhanger. Characters are 19+. Romantic dynamic is either MMMF or MMMMF - unsure which yet, as Ryan ALMOST feels in play?

Couldn’t stand the repetitive storyline. It didn’t drawl me in. Great visuals and plot I just kept losing interest.
