As my previous review of an Agatha Christie book I must say I was dissapointed. First of all, this is a Poirot novel and we don't see him for the first half of the book and the second part he has minor influence on the story.
I don't think this book was that well conceived. It has the romantic triangle half Agatha Christie book have. It depicts some middle to high class citizens. It tells us, yet again, how Christie truly despises the advances of society and how young people don't revere the old ways...
I think Elinor Carlisle (our main character) and Mary Gerrard were the two characters that stood out. Nay, I say more - Elinor is probably one of the most interesting characters Christie created. You ask why? Maybe it's because half the book we are told mainly in her perspective and at times, when she is on trial she thinks something but says other.
Should you read the book? If it is your first by Christie than no. If you are on a running marathon to read every Christie's books than I say - go right ahead. Expect more romance than previous books; expect less mystery and less Poirot.

A classic Agatha Christie, an obscure link between the victim and the murderer, but Hercule Poirot knows more about botany than I do.
