So. Damn. Long.
I'm pretty sure this book was dragged out was too much. I had a hard time liking Andrew since he was such an asshole 89% of the way through. The only thing I can give him credit for is being a good enough guy for sticking around for the girls that needed him. But damn if he wasn't worth being around until then. I just found him to be the entitled cocky jerk that athletes are stereotyped. Also I swear he's bipolar with the way his mood swings so violently. And Brook, I didn't agree with a lot of her stupid action and how much she let Drew get away with. But I do respect her for telling him no repeatedly when she knew things weren't going the way she needed them to. And all the fucking meddling that happened between all the friends was out of control and irritating.
I can't get over all the ridiculously generic names this book had. Nothing really stood out. And the use of the nickname baby was annoying too.
There was way too much drinking and partying for my taste. And honestly how was it that not once their majors weren't mentioned... or did I just not notice when they were?
Usually when I read from the other person's POV I really love it. And while it was nice to see his thoughts, it just made me think of him as an even bigger jackass. The last chapter that was done in his POV was probably the best out of all of them though.

3.5/5
Honestly I’m so confused right now. The first half was a great slow burn a little mystery behind the characters fun book. Then the other half, more specially the ending chapters, what the heck. Like where did any of that come from, I was so confused. Could’ve been a 5/5 if the ending didn’t have some weird turn I don’t know. A very interesting read, but way to long for it to change up that way. It was almost like two dif books. It’s def an experience.

"It's hard to pretend when you're alone."

Brooklyn Shaw is trying to stay away from attention, far away.
Being the quiet one has it's perks but not all of those perks can help when she catches the eye of the one football player that everyone is drawn to. After a past that rocked her entire life she has no desire to be apart of something like that again, but we never expect the unexpected.

Andrew Fayden, is the IT guy on campus. Having girls just throw themselves at him has never been a problem but when he notices one girl in particular that stays back and prefers to be on her own except for the one friend, he is without a doubt wondering about her. Why is she so different?

“You're important, baby. You're important to me, don't worry about everything else.”

This book is EVERYTHING that we go through in high school/college. The drama, the friends, the rivalries, and last but definitely not least, the love. It leaves it's impact that is for sure, but this one and journey they take to get there is incredibly bumpy.
I will say the way the twists and turns happen and the BIG TWIST, I absolutely did not see that coming and it threw me for a loop, but it works.

Andrew & Brooklyns story is one that is full of real world possibilities and scenarios that can take you for a loop and spin you inside out but also understanding slides in there if you are from a small town and you know how small towns work, trust me they suck!

Overall this #booktok rec had me all up in my high school feels and its been years, it was refreshing and I loved every minute of it!

I wanted to like this book. The beginning was rough and then I didn’t mind the middle but the end was just bad. Didn’t even finish the last few pages cause I was so annoyed. Sad I didn’t enjoy it more l.

What happened to morals? What happened to going to class? What happened to realistic plot points?

This is probably going to sound like a jumbled mess. I apologize. Hustle is a difficult book to rate.
I couldn't stop reading it, but it was incredibly frustrating. I thought I was going to love it, but the over the top drama got to me after a while. It made me want to throw the book at some points. The main character, Brooklyn, lets herself get walked all over constantly. Her love interest doesn't communicate well... to the point of ridiculousness. There is a lot of cruelty going on in this book from various characters most of which is aimed at Brooklyn. It all felt unbelievable at times. The characters didn't react realistically to the situations much of the time, in my opinion.
I don't know who I would recommend this book to. If you like over the top, unbelievable drama and frustrating characters as long as there is plenty of steam...then this might be the book for you? I would, however, read another book by this author despite some of the negative feelings I had about this one. The writing style kept me hooked, and maybe with a different plot I could really enjoy one of her book. I will give it a try anyway.

Mixed feelings. I wish this was DUAL POV. We only see from Brooks perspective and I think I would have liked Drew more if we saw things from him. The main character was almost too nice at times. Pretty much everyone turned out to be shifty besides the two main characters. I found myself wanting a couple more side characters that I liked but by the end of it EVERYONE was trash. This is not what I expected from a college sports romance. It was quite a bit darker than I expected and the last 100 pages of the book felt out of left field.
