3.5 // There is an intriguing story here. It has issues in the overall execution but I still very much enjoyed it. The author shows a lot of promise in the writing and is definitely someone I want to keep an eye on.

The world building, specifically around his kind, is what grabbed my attention. There are quite a few books featuring spidery MMCs but I really liked this author’s take—his aphrodisiac venom, that the magic of his kind demands he obey a wife’s command, the paradox of having a human mate while also only able to feed on her kind—I loved the messiness of it all.

What needs work:
•The middle of the story is clunky and feels forced.
•The dialogue at times stilted and amateur.
•Continuity errors: she’s supposed to be paralyzed but coherent by his venom but is arching and writhing every time after he bites her
•A tragedy in his past with a previous wife has him scared to be with the FMC. There was a missed opportunity to “fix” this issue in the FMC being his destined wife when the previous one was not. Not allowing for a “fix” of some kind ultimately makes the HEA shaky at best.

I actually really liked this. Thankfully the spider man wasn’t very spider-ish the entire book cause I’m pretty grossed out by spiders lol! But that didn’t stop me from giving it a chance and I’m glad I did.

The characters were kind of dull and mentally could not wrap my head around her even being okay with him being this weird spider creature? But it didn’t stop me from finishing the book so.

I think realistically this book was half steamy sessions and there’s nothing to hate about that lol! If you want a very steamy short read and love the idea of mates being the whole point of a relationship than this is the novella for you.

I can’t believe

I can’t believe I read a book with a spider lover and it was amazing! I couldn’t put it down. I didn’t think I would make it though but I’m sure glad I did. If you have a fear of spiders but this but calls to you read it. You will forget he’s one. And then when you remember you won’t care!!
