Ruby Morningstar, a half-succubus living in Portland, owns a tattoo parlor with her best friend and roommate, Moira, who happens to be a banshee. Ruby's life is a mix of the extraordinary and the mundane, featuring an adorable pet raccoon named Bandit and a troublesome, crazy ex-boyfriend. After a run-in with the law while teaching someone a lesson in decency, Ruby is unexpectedly bailed out by a strikingly handsome demon. This demon, along with his 'brothers'—Rysten, Allistair, Julian, and Laran, known as Pestilence, Famine, Death, and War—turns Ruby's world upside down. Contrary to popular belief, the Four Horsemen are not harbingers of the apocalypse but protectors created to safeguard Lucifer's Daughter. They are convinced that Ruby is, indeed, Lucifer's daughter, now all grown up.
*Lucifer's Daughter* is a fantastic read with a compelling concept and strong characters. Ruby is a snarky, independent, and strong-willed protagonist with a touch of vulnerability. Her pet raccoon, Bandit, is beyond adorable and steals every scene he’s in. Moira, with her vibrant personality, is the ideal best friend every girl deserves. The Horsemen are depicted as powerful and dangerously attractive men.
This is the first book I have read by Kel Carpenter, and I am now officially a fan. Her writing is engaging, with a smoldering storyline that keeps you hooked. The book is primarily told from Ruby’s first-person perspective, but it also includes short chapters from each of the Horsemen, providing valuable insights into their thoughts and feelings. The ending hints at exciting developments to come rather than leaving readers on a cliffhanger, making me eager for the next book, *Wicked Games*. I believe Hell has truly met its match with Ruby.
Trigger Warning: The book includes a depiction of sexual assault, which could be upsetting for survivors.

Enjoyable, fast, and character-focused. We get bits of the underworld and what it means to be Lucifer's daughter but it's very minimal. The relationships between Ruby and the horseman, plus Moira and Bandit is the focus and fun as can be! The dialog is fun and quick.
We get more underworld and coming into power details in later books.
I do wish I'd read the omnibus because these books flow so smoothly into each other and it's hard to separate them when I read them back to back.

So Holly the narrator was better in this book, I didn’t like here in the other series so that is cool. This book was fast paced and covered a lot of ground in a short time, but I didn’t mind that. Interested to see where this goes,
