This book made me think of ways to get at information in my life that I wouldn't normally see. It is full of clear examples of oversight and assumptions that we create to shortcut our thinking. Fabulous read.

Why do people ignore what's right in front of their eyes? Why don't we speak up when we know something is wrong? The psychological phenomenon of willful blindness has always intrigued me, and Margaret Heffernan did an incredible job in this book explaining why it happens as well as solutions. This book has a great blend of psychological research along with real stories as examples of how willful blindness hurts us all. If you're a critical thinker and want to take your head out of the sand, get this book ASAP.

Wilful Blindness is a fascinating examination of our tendency to selective vision and the risks we run by ignoring problems in plain sight. It explores how our natural attraction to like-minded people leads to blinkered thoughts and actions.
I can't speak too highly of this book. It's a game-changer in teaching the importance of dissent and critical thinking.
If your staff all look like you, you're missing out. Diverse backgrounds mean tackling problems in different ways. Healthy debate leads to better decisions.
From Enron to Hillsborough, institutional racism to medical malpractice, Margaret Heffernan's book is an eye-opener to the problems that our assumptions and prejudices cause us. And it's a must-read for workaholics who scorn sleep!
