This is my favorite kind of book: Great cast of unique characters, and you love them all for different reasons. The writing style is easy without being YA. The emotional impact and anticipation is complex but not stressful. Loved it.

A warm romance with a good ending

A charming gentle read. Romanticism in the (almost) modern day.
I love the way the story moves through time and circles forward to a time where vinyl is again interesting, and love is re-kindled.
It is Frank’s salvation.

Sweet, but not cloying.

Good beach read!

I liked it more earlier on. Then it began to drag and repeat. I enjoyed the different musician anecdotes throughout but those were really the highlights. Also, for a book who's protagonist rallied against trends in music for entire thing I find it hilarious that such a passing musical fad was the device the author chose to rescue said character.

This was an absolutely delightful, lovely novel about friendship, community, finding unexpected love, and most of all: music... how music can completely define, shape, and change lives, as well as bring people together. I loved it. Refreshing, heartbreaking, tender, and emotional without being sappy. I look forward to reading more of Rachel Joyce's books after this one.

Cue up the accompanying Spotify playlist while you zip through this quick read. I enjoyed the flashback reflections on Frank's past, his relationship with his mother, and musical upbringing. I thought it was a good way to explain his later life choices.

Not my favorite genre but it was a unique read.
