dnf at 60% i am so sad i’m dnf’ing a book in this series and ESPECIALLY remos book… but no. this book actually has the best plot in the series so far tbh so i might pick it back up just for that, the mafia aspects were so good and the kidnapping made for a good plot too as always. but remo let me down i can’t with his manipulating her etc etc. ive read A LOT of questionable things, but you cannot base a romance story off him being nice to her and treating her with basic respect after kidnapping her just so she falls in love with him it is painful. the misogyny in this also wasn’t cutting it for me. i really liked serafina though as a fmc she didn’t submit to his shit. (until she does) i might have been able to get past it but their chemistry was not convincing and there was no basis for them to be in love with each other believably at all. at least i won’t have to read ab her getting pregnant cos EW.
i was enjoying this enough until i read a 1 star review on it and totally agreed with everything it said- nothing i already didn’t know but i like to block things out if i don’t like them so i can enjoy the book

I think I finally found my favourite CR book. I have been a fan of Remo for 3 books and I absolutely adored Serafina right from the start. There's nothing that will get or keep me invested in a book than a "I hate everyone but you" character and a take no prisoner or nonsense coming together. I needed this. I didn't know I needed it until I had it.

My opinion: I really enjoyed this book. Remo is a walking red flag, but his feelings for Serafina were obvious from the start ... even if he didn't want to acknowledge them. His willingness to free her from her cage both physically and metaphorically was what she truly needed and I think proved her was the best choice for her. I loved the dynamic between them as captive and abductor. The spice was really good as well. I didn't, however, enjoy that no one listened to Serafina when she told them the truth. They just told her she couldn't understand what happened to her and that she'd know what really happened one day. That caused so many problems later.

Serafina is such a baddie. I was really scared to read Remo’s book because he’s a psycho (in a good way obviously) but it did not freaking disappoint.

I truly have no recollection of the last two days. it is a blur of despicable misogynistic portags, Stockholm syndrome, ENABLERS, rapists, murderers, boring pages and pages of sex scenes, truly questionable definitions of consent, gaslighting and so much more.

I truly do not have a rationale for my behaviour from the last two days, for hate-reading three freaking books with horrible covers from the series. the second book on Nino and Kiara was the better of the three I think, although that's not saying much.

Another fantastic book by Cora Reilly!

Warning: MOB LIFE IS TERRIBLE! Remo does terrible things, to Serafina and to others. If you pick up a mob romance novel, you know what you are getting yourself into.

Anyways, Remo wants to cripple Dante Cavallaro and the Chicago Outfit and kidnaps his niece, Serafina on her wedding day. But Serafina wont be broken that easily. What started out as a desire for revenge quickly changes to be much more, for both kidnapper and kidnapee. But both their prides' get in the way.

While I am not usually a fan of the kidnap the girl as the start of a romance novel, this one doesn't bother me as much as most, probably because you can tell from the beginning that Remo wont hurt Serafina, even if that was his original plan. I also love how much of Dante and the outfit we got to see in this book. (It's getting me excited for Dante and Valentina's new book.) I also loved Serafina's relationship with her dad and brother. We saw a mob family that we hadn't seen so far from Reilly.

My only issue was Remo seemed to have a massive 180 in emotional range from beginning to end and it seemed to happen rather quickly. His actions always work for me, but he's a little to lovey dovey to realy click with me. I always figured he would be much more like Luca or Nino with his emotions.

But If you've read any other of Cora Reilly's books, Twisted Pride is a wonderful continution and escalation of the stories and characters we have grown to know and love!
