Finished this a while ago and was just processing the ending for a long time. Granted I still have 2 novellas to read so I'm not quite done with the universe but I don't know what I'm going to do after 6 years of reading this series!
I don't know how to express my feelings properly about the ending but overall I enjoyed it. There was a LOT happening that needed to get wrapped up and I think the authors maybe intentionally didn't wrap up/explain everything. 1) because aliens and 2) because humans will human and 3) that shit is hard to do as authors.
That said, I liked how the character arcs were concluded overall - I sobbed in the last 30 pages.
And that epilogue - what the hell was that? I have SO many questions.
Some minor critiques - pacing was a little off given how much had to happen. The plot beats to resolve most of the issues were predictable (which is fine, just something to note), and I'm not sure how much the interlude sections actually added to the story. They were a little confusing and didn't give me much more perspective on the alien/proto-molecule side of things.
All to say, this was as series more about being human and the struggles humans put themselves through with power (who has it, who wants it, who has it thrust upon them, and who fucks up humanity's future with it because they think they know best and have too much power) and it was a worthwhile ending to the series. I just really want a future installment (even just a novella) explaining that epilogue!

So....I was suffering from some confusion because when I finished re-reading #7 in the Expanse series, I remarked that I remembered #9 really well, but that I had no memory of #8. Then I re-read #8 and realized that it was the story I remembered really well, so then I had no memory of #9. Turns out there was a very good reason for this: I hadn't read #9, as it had not yet been published when I originally read the series. (Insert dope-slap emoji here!) So now I have read #9, and I liked it very much. It's a little more out there than the rest of the series, but it does a really great job of tying up the story and putting an end to the whole protomolecule threat. (I'm not giving anything away here, given the title of the novel!) All in all: I really enjoyed this series and I'm glad I read it again start to finish once the final novel was actually published. I go 5 stars for the series as a whole.
Spoiler
I LOVE that they brought back Miller to work with James Holden to eliminate the threat to mankind--the partners from the very early novels coming together to save everyone one more time. I also think that the fact that they split the team up, that Naomi loses Jim, that Alex leaves with Rocinante to go to his son, was fitting, if sad. A really nice all-tied-up-with-a-bow ending which, say, brought back Bobbie and Clarissa would have just been way too much. These people engaged in highly risky behavior, and they had to pay a steep price for the sacrifice they made for others. That only makes sense. And since Amos was already brought back to life, bringing others back--including Jim--would also have been way too much.

I loved the series as a whole and found this last book to be very satisfying!
This final arc has been such a strong finale for this series!
Balancing a small scale manhunt, a large scale anti-fascist resistance and a universal scale cosmic horror into a meaningful and personal ending to a nine book series is no easy feat and yet Leviathan Falls does it wonderfully!
Find the small scale plot villain a little too utterly detestable to have a likeable pov and the second act lulls before the giant climax BUT none of that takes away from the epic conclusion.
Just need to finish up the epilogue short story from the Memory's Legion collection, then I'll be all done with The Expanse
