This is the second book of a duology. This book was less “what is going on” in terms of the mystery. But it had an interesting twist in the end I would not have guessed.

It found a way to be both funny and emotional.  Overall a good read. I am not really a fan of romance books just for the sake of romance. This one was a bit heavier on the romance and lighter on the actual mystery, but I liked the characters and a couple surprise guests so 4 stars it is.

I wanted to like this more but it dragged a bit and the characters didn’t work for me. I think the book started off well by the time the action starts it hit a slump.

In one of his first chapters Soren talks about how agonizing it is to be in love with his friend but he doesn’t know what to do. But then a few chapters later he tells her “i think we are going to kiss.” It didn’t have any serious character building or situation change that helped me see how he got there. Also it just didn’t feel like a realistic thing to say. Why not just say “i think i like you,” or something? Of course he female character is like “did he really say that?” Also a lot of unrequited narration about the same thoughts and events. I basically had the ick so bad half way through & never recovered.

Heidi Lucy Loses Her Mind is book 2 in Gracie Ruth Mitchell’s Happily Ever Homicides series.

This book has all the witty banter, murder mystery, twists and romcom feels that Juniper Bean Resorts to Murder had. Juniper even makes an appearance in Heidi’s book!

Do you enjoy dual POV? I love them, getting into each characters head is so fun and Gracie Ruth Mitchell does this style of book to perfection! The MMC Soren, was so smitten with Heidi it was adorable. And Heidi, harbouring her own star struck crush with Soren, you couldn’t help but cheer their relationship on.

If you enjoy a little whodunnit with your romcom you need to grab this book! You’ll also get small town vibes, a man bun, a coffee shop/book store you’ll want to be real, MMC who ADORES the FMC, vulnerability, fantastic supporting characters and a happily ever after ending.

I was given this ARC for an honest review.
