This was very similar in theme to My Sister's Keeper, with a tragic ending. Willow is a child with osteogenesis imperfecta, meaning she breaks bones very easily. Her family's life revolves around caring for her, and her medical debt is all consuming. The family ends up discovering that they could sue their OB for wrongful birth, but that OB is Charlotte (the mother's) best friend. Drama! Like all of Jodi Picoult's books, she has created a dramatic web of community, and through that, she explores high stakes medical ethical dilemmas.

The ending was a bit drawn out, it took a long time and was somewhat slow paced which was a bummer. The legal and moral dilemmas did drag on, and the horribly sad ending with the death of willow did not super feel worth it.

What a very sad saga. Hated the ending. Hated the plaintiff attorney's backstory. Hated the second person narrative. All that out of the way, thought the topic of ableism was delicately handled. We need more stories addressing ableism. Most of us suffer from this bias unconsciously. We need more of these stories.

It has been a hot minute since I've read a Jodi Picoult book but if your familiar with her writing then you know that this book was an emotional rollercoaster of epic proportions....

I found this story captivating and engrossing but if I'm honest this ending left me wanting. I had more questions then answers.

Normally Jodi is a top ranking author for me. But that ending left me wanting too much so I'm giving it 3 stars

I wish we'd gotten a little more information about what happened to the family after Willow died. Just one chapter similar to how she ended My Sister's Keeper instead it just ends and we have no idea how any of them moved on

The story was in shambles. The whole story felt pointless and a waste of time because of the ending.

Hmmm. This book got off to a GREAT start, and I was really enraptured at first. But by the end I couldn’t find anything redeeming in charlotte or Sean. This book walked so that My Sisters Keeper could run.

Content warning included in this review, there are a LOT

also when Sean essentially raped Charlotte to “prove a point” was the moment I was no longer on board. You feel bad for charlotte until you remember that she ruins her only friends life….
