this was much better than The Paris Apartment. I did not see some of the twist coming!

If you can stomach the terrible terrible men in this book, it makes it more than worth you while. A great thriller!

An excellently written, wonderfully intricate thriller mystery. Foley's five narrators are evocative, their distinct voices a perfect blend.

Very quick and easy read, I enjoyed it. At a point near the end I was starting to get a little bored and I was planning to give it 3 stars but then the last couple chapters turned it around and I settled on 3.5.

I love that the narrative jumped back and forth between the events leading up to the murder and as they unraveled what had happened. I expected to get annoyed at the characters hiding things even when they were the narrator, but it was cleverly set up so that they either were hiding things from themselves/trying not to think about things or were focused on the conversations they were having and it made sense for them to keep things secret.

Some of the plot twists were hinted at and paid off in a satisfying way, but some of them thoroughly bamboozled me, and I was so impressed by both!

It was really hard to get through this book for me. It was almost a DNF. I had to get the sparknotes to get excited about it cause i had no idea what what happening, what the point of it all was, where it was going, all of the characters were shady and ominous as fuck and i didn't like any of them except Hannah, kind of. I found my self skimming and skipping so much of the scene setting. Idk. Maybe cause I went into it not knowing what to expect. Not for me. Though I see the Agatha Christie comparison.

Totally didn't see the end coming, and it managed to be layered surprises past the initial one. I liked the multiple POVs despite myself; author really managed to make each charcter have their own voice and make sense. Pretty suspenseful, and I was interested for the most part. Occasionally fell off, particularly Johnno in the first 2/3 but otherwise largely good.
