Speak of the Demon

Good story, interesting overall plot. Writing pretty solid, just some holes in the immediate plot. For instance for someone obsessed with finding out who murdered her mom, you would think that when she gets some good intel she would push for the answers but instead it’s put on back burner.

3.5

I liked the world building, and magic system as well as the h...but the H wasn't really my cuppa tea. Some people will totally love the "push-pull/need to dominate/your mine" kinda relationships, but for some reason those kinda actions from a H triggers my flight or fight feels when reading.

Like he wanted her so he was going to do anything to get her kinda actions including lying, manipulating, and backing her into a corner to get what he wants-even if she's scared, says she's not interested, and tries to get away. But of course he gives her the irresistible sexy feels so it will all work out in the end right?

“Unless you’d like to crawl back into my bed where you belong.”
“Die, Samael.” I hung up, ignoring his laugh. I didn’t have time for the fury that burned through me.

I see where this is going and might end up liking him in later stories, and they have chemistry but why can't these kinda guys just wait for the h's to like them naturally instead of forcing the issue and making them feel trapped?

*cries in conflicted feelings*

I am so excited I was able to win this book in a Goodreads Giveaway.  It's from the paranormal romance genre which I have not read much of but REALLY enjoyed. Danica and the other characters are unapologetically themselves, and the mystery and adventure of the book is fast paced with the perfect amount of romance mixed in.  Looking forward to reading the rest in the series.
