felt like a bedtime story for adults.
A lovely short story that was managed to be completed in one bedtime reading session, describing one man's insatiable thirst for land and its ultimate consequence. The final line was a fantastic way to wrap up this tale of ever increasing desire and dissatisfaction with what you have. I also loved its straightforward writing style and biblical link.
A nice little parable which had me reflecting on excess and greed in aspects of my own life. Quite an evocative ending. But Joyce referred to this as the greatest short story ever written, and I can’t say I saw that.
A timeless cautionary tale about human greed. Loved it- short & to the point!
