The writing was even more messy in this one than in The Love Hypothesis. The use of stream of consciousness was getting out of hand. I guess I would have been less annoyed had I actually liked Mara's character? Maybe. What I did like was their banter, though. Yeah it was juvenile at some points, but it made me chuckle (what does that say about me?). I liked the progression of their friendship too, how the animosity was not dragged out too much. Not a fan of the inability of these MCs to communicate, though, especially with Liam being a lawyer. Come on.
Now this is only my second Ali Hazelwood read, but what's going on with the sex scenes? Maybe the awkwardness was her way of making it more realistic, but the one here was not it. Consent kinda sketchy although I guess Mara doesn't complain because she actually likes Liam. And again with the unsatisfying epilogue.
