I am always on the look out for truly frightening horror outside of the wonder twins, King & Koontz, and heard good things about Little. Maybe I came too the book with too many expectations.
From reading the description, I was excited for a good zombie story but found myself reading what felt very much like the same old story about intolerance, revenge, and witchcraft. Set in the Old West, or the Middle Ages, witches who misuse magic because normal people hurt them for being different?? Been there. I felt like I had everything figured out the minute Isabella showed up on the page and while parts of the story were genuinely creepy and even thrilling, the inevitability of the grand showdown disappointed me.

Excuse the pun, but I found THE WALKING to be rather … pedestrian. There’s some nice imagery, but the tone and pace lack variation, which makes the whole thing something of a slog. No building tension, no careening to an exciting climax, it’s just A to B to C to D, the end. The novel is a serviceable tale about witchcraft and revenge but it misses every opportunity to do something original with the subject matter. I doubt I’ll remember it a year from now.
Wow...just wow. I've read some Little before, but damned if I remember if it was this bad. The tone, the structure, the reasearch...all lacking. Also it was boring and not in the least intriguing. The only reason it gets two stars is because he has a decent talent as an author, really felt like he didn't care while writing this one.
