Riveting! I’m so enjoying this new offshoot from the Haven Grace Prep series. Now in North Haven University, this group of young adults are starting to adult, dealing with university, their future, and more serious love affairs.
Jace London, Paige McAllister and Carter Trayland were best friends in high school. Then they went their own ways to college, far away from each other, and one year later, find themselves back in Haven University. Their coming back is due to tragic circumstances but this doesn’t mean that their friendship is back on track. Paige ghosted Jace to protect her heart and now Jace hates her. He’s immersed in darkness and despair, is in a bad place, and refuses all efforts to help him. Finally Carter uses his final and desperate secret weapon: Paige.
Paige is back in North Haven due to tragic conditions too. She’s dealing with a deep grief and impending loss and has no emotional resources to help the guy who used to be the love of her life. But responding to Carter’s begging, she accepts to help Jace, and ends up being the one thing he needed to come up from the pit of darkness. Even so, the problems continue, Jace continues with the deep trauma, except that he now is using Paige as a crutch.
The darkness doesn’t completely go away and Jace’s issues are still ongoing. I loved seeing these friends battle out their issues, helping each other, overcoming their differences and holding each other up. There are ups and downs, all related to Jace, who is really in a very dark place. He desperately needs Paige but won’t surrender his secrets.
I loved the story, loved the brilliant writing, found it riveting and emotional. These kids steal your heart and you suffer their tribulations with them. I liked that the parents are front and center in their kids lives, and although they are very busy managing their companies, they drop everything to rush to their kids side.

Jace and Paige had history. In high school they were friends that eventually hooked up but went their separate ways when they went to college. She’s back but Jace has demons and she’s dealing with a very emotional family issue. At first he detests her because he’s still pissed off that she left which is very hypocritical of him because it wasn’t like he was waiting for her and also he never defined their relationship. Paige was amazing and didn’t put up with Jace bs but she realized he needed help. She was there for him and he finally let go the resentment but he still wasn’t completely open about his demons. When she found out she face him an ultimatum but there was more to the story. The story was going very well until the last couple chapters where everything came to light about why Jace was the way he was. I think it should have been wrapped up in two chapters and let us read of where he and Paige was. Also I think the family issue that Paige was dealing with was just swept under the rug towards the end too. Other than that great story and great secondary characters. Carter was Jace best friend and was very involved in their story.
I don’t know what I was expecting going into this but colour me impressed!
There are a couple of moments where the resolution was quite quick and and it’s very dramatic at times but this was really good! I demolished it in one sitting and will definitely be reading more by this author in the future.

This was a heavy, intense, painful and emotional read. I mean every word of it.
I can't tell you how many times when conflict clashed, it felt like a bullet hit right to my heart and I cried a couple of times throughout the book. It was a very hard read but nothing I couldn't handle but I'd take precautions if you can't handle a lot q of trigger warnings and very dark matters!
I want to briefly mention that this is a second book in North Haven University so I have not read the first book but after reading this I want to read more by this author!
Reading Jace's chapters was very dark and personal, it was like living inside of his head and his feelings were very raw, his struggles; with going about since that night was endearing for him. Jace was a broken traumatized soul that needed guidance to better himself and this book has taught us a few things and I believe that's why it's called Change My Game. I could empathize on his feelings which hit very close to home for me.
Paige is such an angel, always there for anyone and puts them before her. My heart crushed every time she faced the worst and she had to be strong. Stubborn but no quitter either. She becomes a huge rock for Jace and her loved ones that she can sometimes need someone there for her as well. Hesitated at first about helping Jace out without knowing what she was getting herself into. As she got closer and closer to Jace, secrets were unraveled, in a brutal painful way. She pulls herself away from it all, but always find her way back to him no matter what:

3.5 good but not spectacular i don’t know why i have so much hope for these couples… but in the end they simply don’t deliver. the idea is good the execution is meh
My heart was in my stomach from the very first page. Change My Game is a gut wrenching emotional story about redemption, addiction, loss, second chances, and finding yourself at the end of it all.
Kelsey really dove into the underbelly of Jace and Paige and plucked out all of their emotions, bringing forth their depth and letting it drip off the pages so it would sink into your soul.
Change My Game is a heavy hitter romance with two characters that carry a lot of emotional baggage into their second chance meeting. Jace is set out to self destruct and destroy not only himself mentally, physically, emotionally, but pretty much anyone who gets in his path. The only person who seems to care is his best friend, Carter, and Jace works pretty hard at abusing that friendship at every turn. Carter reaches out to the one person in their past who might help, but it's a long shot given how she ghosted from their lives. The one person who was a constant friend growing up and eventually became more, Paige.
Paige is back in North Haven, but she is barely able to keep her own emotional baggage in check. Her father is sick and she's back helping her mother keep him comfortable in his final days. Paige doesn't have time to take on Jace's baggage, but at Carter's insistence she also can't seem to walk away. At one point in time Jace was important in her life and then suddenly he wasn't. She may have been the one to cut ties almost two years ago, but would she be okay knowing he was really hurt now when she could be the one help. Stepping in to his world again is one of the easiest and hardest things to do, but who ever said matters of the heart are easy.
The agony of both Jace and Paige and what they are going through bled off the pages and tore through my heart. Kelsey filled the story not only with love and friendship, but twists and turns that had my gripping my kindle and needing moments to pause, stop and mentally scream. To say Kelsey changed the game with this book seems punny, but instead what she really did was upped her game for the entire series.
Change My Game is a non-stop read through once you begin, but prepare for this game changer.

This is a story following two people in there 20s and the drama, hardships, and traumas they faced during there college years.
Paige is suffering at the thought of losing her dad to cancer, and Jace is suffering from witnessing something so traumatic he can't even talk about it to anyone. The event in question is mentioned throughout the book but it never really depicts what truly happened until the last couple chapters. It is truly quite the journey and a total shocker.
Great story of triumph, sadness, loss, and romance. Paige and Jace have a toxic relationship at first but then normalcy comes into play. This was quite the read and I highly recommend it.
⚠️ I cried at a few spots and I'm not usually a tear giving person with books. But this book broke me and put me back together again.

Clayton has taken us into a much darker place, sticking to the real beast that is life. She will wring your emotions dry and leave you with a book hangover so big you will not know what to read next. This story focuses on the different ways life can change after a life changing event occurs. Kelsey digs in deep with this book taking us on a journey that ripped my heart out and put it back together with a hurt that only a great writer can.
Jace and Carter end up at North Haven after something terrible happened at their old University. They chose to deal with it in two different ways. Jace heads down a dark and dangerous path that no one can seem to save him from. Paige transferred to North Haven after getting a devastating call from her parents, leading her back from California.
Paige and Jace have a history so long and tangled the pain from their last goodbye left devastation in their wake. Paige might be the only one who can save Jace. Overcoming their past while dealing with their private struggles may prove to be too much for these two to find a way out together.

Change My Game is the second book in the North Haven University series. This book can be read as a standalone. I read book one, and enjoyed the books together, but think they would be enjoyable by themselves as well! This book is told from dual points of view from Jace and Paige.
Jace and Paige were best friends growing up. They started seeing each other their Senior year, however ended up going to different colleges, and Paige just dropped Jace without letting him know. She was in love with him, but didn't feel he felt the same.
Now two years later she is back due to a family thing, and Jace has gone through his own trauma he is trying to forget. He has turned to drugs to try to get through life, and doesn’t really care about school. Paige came back from her school to be with her dad who is sick. Jace wants nothing to do with Paige, after she ghosted him. Carter (Jace's roommate and their friend) gets ahold of Paige and asks for her help with Jace.
Paige tries to help Jace, but does Jace want the help? Can he recover from his trauma he went through. Can Paige handle it with what is going on with her dad. Is she strong enough? There were so many things I didn’t see coming.
This book was amazing. I can not wait for the next book in the series!
