I put off reading this follow-up to The Guncle, because I was worried there was no way it could live up to the original book. But, oh my gosh! Patrick, Maisey, and Grant once again did not disappoint. Rowley certainly knows how to craft a story that makes you addicted to the lives of the characters. Once again, I wanted to read more and more, but also didn’t want to read too fast, because I didn’t want to have to finish the book and not have anymore to read. It also didn’t hurt that they did the Sound of Music tour, which I will be doing in October, so that made me really excited!

I loved The Guncle. This sequel was lots of fun, too. Patrick is in London when his brother calls to say he is getting remarried five years after his wife's death. He asks Patrick to once again take care of his children for a while - this time so he can help plan the wedding with his fiancee. The kids aren't happy about the prospect of a new stepmother and try to enlist Patrick's help in dissuading their father from the marriage. Patrick in the meantime is trying to get over is break up with Emory. Guncle angst and shenanigans ensue.
I listened to the audio version of this, and the author does a great job of narrating this book (not a small feat).

This and Steven Rowley's book The Celebrants just feel like a bunch of cheesy one liners you might read on a classroom poster and I just can't deal. I really liked The Guncle but this just felt like the author had to finish a second book and didn't bother coming up with an interesting story. Surprised I made it as far as I did.
