3.75 rounded up to the nearest star. I really enjoyed this coming-of-age story from Elena Ferrante. While I think I enjoyed My Brilliant Friend more, I got a kick out of the humor and the drama from an intelligent teenager’s perspective and logic as she figures out the world and the adults around her as well as her own peers. The characters were entertaining and surprising. The novel was a bit long for what it was and what it had to offer. I also listened to the audiobook read by Marisa Tomei who did a fantastic job and brought some of the Italianness alive. The novel is primarily set in Naples where the protagonist Giovanna Trada is being brought up by her parents who are estranged from their extended family. The story follows her discoveries from ages 12-16 as her family evolves right before her eyes.

Scrittura precisa e coinvolgente.

3.5/5. A good coming of age book but took a while to get into and the story line seemed to jump at times

Deeply unlikeable everyone. Wish I could remember how it ended up on my TBR queue.
