While I love a good retelling I found this one very repetitive and somewhat degrading as a woman who loves to read. I understand that the time when this book was set it was unfathomable to be an intellectual woman but she wrote it as if it was a crime. As well it really focused on the value of beauty. Again a product of the time period but could have been done better. 

Perhaps if natasha hadn't followed the stereotype of being the dark sister and just lived there wouldn't have been a problem.
