wasn’t as weird as the third book, but was definitely approaching it. this series feels all over the place lol

I can't help but I'm slightly disappointed with the ending of this book. As much as I see it coming, I was expecting it to be much bigger than it was and I wanted to know more details about the God Emperor of Dune. Let's proceed with the Dune Saga and find out where it all leads.

At this point I am slowly regretting reading the Dune Saga beyond the 1st and 2nd book. I am still enjoying it to some extent but I have been let down by thinking this is more Sci-Fi than it actually is.

For a series that was really building up a narrative to counter the Great Man Theory/View of History, I find it... Interesting to then make the narrative go this direction. Still bioessentialist as hell.

There’s a lot that is very good and a lot that is very bad, it is almost maddening how much of this book is “character walks into room, talks to main character, and then leaves room” but it allows Herbert to expound on the reader his weirdo worldview/political beliefs, which like the book itself, are half interesting/half repugnant. Worth a read if you are this far along in the series for how bizarre and singular it is.

this book takes "would you still love me if I was a worm?" to a whole new level. the long answer is no.

so much to dissect here tho i feel like you have to read Dune at least 3 times to understand anything

Also at the start of this book I thought ah! Finally! A main character that's young and fast and does things impulsively instead of just pondering the meaning of doing things for eons! Perhaps this one will have more of a balance between philosophy and action and plot development! And then we go right back to the Worm for the rest of the book. In my opinion it would have been a better book if it was written from Sonia's point of view.

this was wild, a true wtf moment, why am i so into this
