Dune novels always have something mysterious and unknown in them which makes them intriguing. However in this one I felt that the story remained unclear.

The novel is the story of Leto II told in retrospec and shows his rule of the empire many years into his rule of the empire. It shows his views on government which are interesting however they do not really push the story forward.

It did not feel like a good continuation of where Children of Dune ended.
