Just finished reading it and, I can see why many people did not care for it. It really appears to be a bridge between the first three books and the next two. Not a lot of action per se but rather an opportunity for concepts to be explored.

I enjoyed it but not necessarily as much as the first three which i consider a masterpiece of science fiction.

Muad Dib was an almost god figure who attempted to fix his mistakes. We can now see that his biggest mistake was not following through.

Leto II, The Worm, went all in for the sake of humanity. He becomes a true god, and it is fascinating to read about both the loneliness in playing god and the difficulties in killing a god.
