I’d like to thank twitter account Bigolas Dickolas for recommending a book that made me cry. The flowery writing was difficult to read at first, but as the story went on it became immensely charming and made me root for Red and Blue. I don’t really read Sci-fi books and the storytelling in this one confused me a lot. Once I realized those elements are really second to the story between Red and Blue though, I fell in love with the two lovebirds trying to stay together.

“I want to meet you in every place you have ever loved.”

Tender and one-of-a-kind.
Abstract, confusing, and hungry.
This book made me feel like I barely even know how to read.
y e a r n i n g.
A loosely-braided narrative about two agents on opposite sides of a time war but really it's as much about time wars as it is about the breath of a butterfly's wings or what pomegranates are for.
Falling in love through letters in a way that is esoteric and whimsical and absolutely tickled my brain.
The little references? ❤️ The fucking nicknames? 💙
Read this if you like: Memento or maybe Romeo and Juliet. Florence + The Machine. Venn diagrams. The color #26619C.
Devastatingly gorgeous.
Bigger on the inside.

4.5 stars. (I reserve a point, always, to encourage reach exceeding grasp.)

“I love you. I love you. I love you. I'll write it in waves. In skies. In my heart. You'll never see, but you will know. I'll be all the poets, I'll kill them all and take each one's place in turn, and every time love's written in all the strands it will be to you.”

Gorgeous writing. And I loved the concept that letters are ways of time-traveling. But, I was very lost for half of the book— the world building was too vague, the time travel too abstract. I also felt that the letters progressed very quickly, and didn’t allow enough time to really show the changes in each character. Fascinating ending though.
