My favorite in the series so far! I loved Tink, I loved her friendships with the other Underworld women, and I even grew to quite like Hook. I enjoyed seeing their relationship progress. There were even some especially amusing scenes that made me cackle/snort out loud, so props to Katee for that. She’s quickly rising up on my list of favorite romance authors. <3
If I had one complaint, it would be that this story seemed way too similar to that of the first book, Desperate Measures. The girl’s inner battle of simultaneously hating and being horny for the guy. The guy falling in love with the girl even though he thinks he’s awful, doesn’t deserve her, etc. And the whole shtick with Tink, Hook and Pan felt incredibly reminiscent of the one in DM with Jasmine, Jafar and Ali, right down to the way the final showdown unfolded. So, not the biggest fan of that. I’m really not into authors recycling plots. ://
[Update: yes, technically, this is true, but I don’t care anymore. This has become one of those books where I just love it, even if it has flaws.]
Ending this with my favorite quote:
‘She was earlier, yes.’”
Representation:
- full cast of queer polyamorous and/or polysexual characters (one protagonist is also a POC, and there are Black side characters)
- FMM side throuple
Graphic: Sexual content
Moderate: Child abuse, Emotional abuse, Murder, Death, Panic attacks/disorders, and Physical abuse
Minor: Alcoholism
Contains multiple graphic sex scenes + BDSM. All abuse occurred prior to the story but is referenced throughout, moreso in the second half, but never in explicit detail. Tink has a couple of fairly severe panic attacks.bbygirl21's review against another edition

I loved seeing Tink fight to accept her own love for Hook after her abusive relationship with Peter. Seeing Tink Fight to put her full trust into someone else again. Especially hook despite trying to help Tink get out, since he worked around Peter until taking control of the territory and forcing Peter out. And Hook was just amazing. You can tell he truly loves Tink throughout the entire book. And how he didn't just marry Tink for convenience that he married her because he loves her and wanted her. But how he was willing to set her free if she chose to.
Despite the craziness with Peter and the dark spin on this tale, this was a really sweet and beautiful story.
Overall I really loved the story and would definitely recommend reading it.

This book deals with domestic abuse (physically and emotionally) it is in the past but it is discussed and causes panic attacks for the MC. It may be triggering for some people.toberomanced's review against another edition

Hook and Tink have a shared enemy in Peter - Tink because she escaped him and Hook because he took Peter’s territory. When Tink’s deal with Hades expires, she is forced to find a new home. Hook offers her a place to live for a price - she must marry him and he’ll keep her safe.
I love the marriage of convenience trope, and I love the biting snark Tink constantly deploys against Hook. I had so much fun reading their interactions, even as some aspects were rough. Tink being a survivor of abuse was so well done, and her trauma responses are very relatable. I’m very curious and excited to continue the series because as other characters get more depth, the more I crave their story. Just all around such a good story with complex characters who keep me wanting more!
