Now this one was deeply mediocre in exactly the way I was expecting, and no one was named Brick, so three entire stars!

This novel was chosen for my book club and I was actually excited as it felt like The Family Stone movie, but it was so much less. There are too many characters to keep track of all their drama in the short space we're given, the characters we get most familiar with have far less drama than the ones who seem more interesting, and then it just...ends. There's no resolution and I know it's a trilogy, but I checked the descriptions and it seems like things just move forward to the next holiday and that's not what I'm here for, I feel like the entire character of Bart could have been written out and we could have just tied up the story with a heart to heart between Margaret and Kelly and her still leaving and him selling the Inn rather than ending on the weirdest cliffhanger.

Not a stand alone book- great story and holiday story but it leaves you hanging on all the characters to find the next book in the series….

This is "escape reading" at its finest. A quick read to get you in the Christmas spirit. Lots of storylines and several of them still open-ended, so I'm guessing they'll be addressed in the second and third books of the series? Not sure I want to go back to this family drama to see what happens, but it was a fun, light winter's-night read.
