Solid book. Very fun. I'm not a Hitchcock fan so some aspects might have gone over my head, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. Would recommend.

Gripping book full of tension. Every character has a backstory just waiting to be revealed. The ending was unexpected and just brilliant
I tried to get into this book, but I just couldn't bring myself to care about the characters. It also felt slow to get started, I would have been more interested if there was action earlier in the book.

This book wasted an excellent premise. Not only did the author kill off the only interesting character at the halfway point , but the narrative was 85% telling the reader what happened in the past. And she had to tell us about the past, because this entire story hinges on hiding information from the reader by bouncing between POVs until the end. Which makes it unsurprising that the end was boring and obvious. AND the epilogue made no sense. Why does Danny want to burn down the hotel/hate crows? The hotel literally has nothing to do with her motivation.
Listening to this on audio book also made the poor writing stand out.
"Dialogue was written like this," character one says.
"Like what?" character two asks.
"With the word 'says' repeated eight million times in rapid succession," character three says.
"It truly was distracting," character four says.
"And the author isn't even going to incorporate any physicality until this conversation is done," character one says.
I don't usually finish books I'm not enjoying, but I kept hoping that the premise would deliver. It didn't. The story, honestly, should have just taken place when they were in college.
