Greatly Enjoyed. Everything about this book is like a tender caress. The story of two childhood acquaintances rekindling a never acted-upon attraction is so sweet. The noble earl receives a note to return home, where he finds his mother's grave disturbed, the body gone. He finds the culprit, Mercy's father, and avenges his mother. It seems a bit brute for him to act harshly, but as their tale unfolds, you understand why the earl acts the way he does. The earl takes away Mercy, beds her, marries her, and then disappears for six years. What drives you through the book is wanting to see the two give in to their desires and create a home together. The whole story is quite sweet. He is her knight in shining armor, and she is his savior from leading a lonely life. I would have liked to have had a little more resolution to the external conflicts. William confronts the competing business owner, and they seem to come to an understanding, but it is at the end of the book, so you don't really get to see if Alcock holds up his end of the bargain. A few other things happened that never got an explanation. If they had been resolved, I would have liked the book even more. It was still an enjoyable read.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

It was good and it was bad. This book should have been longer. All the problems were not resolved. You had no idea who was behind everything and you never find out why Mercy's maid disappeared for awhile and what she was doing. The book ended so abruptly. Thankfully though we did get a happy ending.

I tend not to go by reviews since I know that not everyone likes the same things, but this time I almost wished I went by some reviews that I had seen that this wasn't worth the money.
