I could not put this book down I can tell I'm going to love this series
Trigger Warning: Sexual Assault, Bullying, Suicide Attempt on page
This was a full 5 stars solely for the messy, teen drama that it gives. It has villains, rich teenagers, unlikely friend groups, over the top yet somehow still believable plot points. I am shocked this has not been adapted by The CW or Netflix yet cause it feels like something they would go for and would be pretty successful.
I also wanted to touch on the trigger warnings I listed above. They come almost out of nowhere and truthfully are not handled the best but I do not think they are harmful or problematic. They simply are present in the story with not much discussion around them other than being reasons that the plot is set in motion.
You follow three girls as they get revenge on people they feel have wronged them. The three main characters are distinct enough if a little one-dimensional but I listened to this as an audiobook and they all had different narrators which help make them feel different. The authors also did a great job at making you dislike and at times hate the characters that our main three are getting this revenge on. This is just a fun, fast-paced story that allows you to not think too hard but just enjoy an over-the-top story so if you have not read this yet I recommend it!

I read this book (in one day!) free online thanks to Pulseit.com. I really enjoyed it! I'd actually say my rating was a 3.5, but I always round up when I can't give a half-star rating. I thought the authors did a great job making Mary, Lillia, and Kat into very different personalities, such that it was easy to recognize who was narrating any given chapter even without looking at the name at the top. Kat was definitely my favorite character, and certainly the one I most identified with. I also thought the authors did a fabulous job of making the "bad guys/girls" distasteful, awful people, *and yet*....leaving just enough room for a teensy amount of pity (or slightly more, in one case) to slip into my feelings about them! In other words, they weren't caricatures or stereotypes of villains, with no redeeming qualities whatsoever; they were complicated people (like real people!), and I found myself always wondering if we were getting the full measure of them through the three narrators' stories.
I find myself eagerly awaiting the chance to read FIRE WITH FIRE, and I will definitely be picking it up to find out what's going to happen after THAT ENDING!!! GAH!! I'm looking forward to spending more time with all the folks on Jar Island! :-)

Oko za oko je kniha plná nevyužitého potenciálu.
Hlavné hrdinky Mary, Kat a Lillia chcú spojiť sily a pomstiť sa tým, ktorí im ublížili = populárnym deckám na škole. Znie to ako fajn námet, dúfala som v nejaké kreatívne nápady a premyslené plány, avšak väčšina z ich nápadov mi znela dosť detinsky.

I didn’t really enjoy this book that much and I’m not sure whether I will actually read the other two books in this trilogy. Knowing me I more than likely will but I’m not going to be in a big rush to read them and ill possibly just get the ebook format rather than the actual book.
The characters within this book were just far too cliche. They were just really cringe worthy and got on my nerves quite a lot. The first 100 pages of the book were so slow to an extent there just wasn’t much actually happening and I was so close to actually not completing this book but I pushed through. They were literally just starting the new term of school and one of the 3 girls had returned back to the main island with a whole new appearance to get this one guy to pay attention to her after so many years, it’s just honestly quite pathetic. The one thing that possibly won’t make sense is that the book is wrote so it flows and it’s quite fast paced but it’s slow because there’s just physically nothing happening.
There is trigger warnings within this book of depression, suicide and eating disorders! So you’ve been warned, it’s nothing too drastic and doesn’t go into much detail until later on in the book, but bullying is the main topic.
So basically on to the actual main part of the book there are these 3 girls, they are different levels of popularity but all have one thing in common they want to get revenge. So what happens is they all come together in secret and set these cruel plans to embarrass the people they want to get revenge on. Once it actually gets into this point it’s quite good and gruesome. But then also at the same time it’s slightly extreme what some of them do. I’d also think that since some of them are aware of how bad bullying is that they wouldn’t actually want this to happen to others, which is where the characters get on my nerves cause I find them two faced, and bitchy. But aren’t most females in a high school environment. You’d think I’d have learnt my lesson with the amount of books I’ve read like this.
So overall this book would get 4 stars because of the slow start and the annoying characters, if you put them to one side you’ve actually got a decent book. Especially with that ending!
So if you like bitchy, high-school drama, friendships and slow starts then this book is 100% for you. It’s a lot different to her other series which I actually really enjoyed, maybe I just need to give this series more time.

3*
I feel like something is missing from the plot. Like something that pulls apart from other books.
The characters are pretty cliché. I don’t feel any connection to any of the characters. At first it was confusing because some of the characters have similar names (Rennie/Reeve, etc).
The book is a quick easy read. The plot is interesting but like I mentioned before, something is missing.
The pacing at times were slow and sometimes went quickly.
The revenge was pretty high school and cliche. The book doesn’t deal with the characters trauma well.
I had listened to the audiobook which is narrated by three different narrators in first person.) I think the narrators did a great job at narrating and they said exactly how I pictured them to sound like.
Pro: a quick easy read.
Con: everything was pretty cliche (plots/characters).
Overall, I liked it. I might continue the series to see how it ends.
Tw: rape, body shaming, attempted suicide, seizures.

I give it more 3.5 than three. The book was a quick, fun, beachy read but it wasn't enough for me. I liked it and it had good characters. What I missed was like a character that you really loved, because there were great sides to the characters but none of them struck me as like someone I could relate to. Anyway a good read, and good if you like The Summer I turned pretty, which I wasn't such a fan of either. So it was a good book, but I wouldn't read it again and yeah.. :)
I can see why someone else may enjoy this book, but it just wasn’t for me. The writing seemed cheesy and unoriginal- I did not enjoy the fact that every outfit was described, and the speech used by the characters often seemed unrealistic and again, cheesy. Lillia in particular seemed very different in her own chapters compared to the chapters of the others, which would be expected seeing as we were inside her mind half of the time, but this doesn’t explain her vastly different behaviours throughout the book. There seemed to be a lot of uninteresting and unimportant side characters, and the story didn’t seem to have much continuity in parts (particularly Lillia’s experience). The story also seemed predictable and therefore quite boring, with not much suspense or exciting things taking place.
Overall a disappointing read, especially as I was expecting another great book by these authors. However, this won’t put me off reading other works by either author!
