No entiendo por qué escribir desde el POV de Edward cuando existe Alice tbh.

I am not sure this book needs a recap but here it goes. Midnight Sun is the retelling of Twilight from Edwards perspective. Edward (vampire) and Bella (human) fall in love and start a relationship that is not meant to be. I loved Twilight back when I was a teenager and I would have definitely loved to know what Edward was thinking back then. However, reading it 15 years later didn’t really do it for me.
I spent the first 60-70% of the book wanting to throw it against the wall (figuratively speaking because I would never hurt a book and it’s not my Kindle’s fault). I only finished it because I am stubborn. The internal monologues, self-loathing and the back-and-forth dynamic were not engaging and made me dislike Edward a bit. Surprisingly, the remainder of the book was pretty interesting, I liked learning what was going on while Bella is otherwise occupied in Phoenix. I particularly liked the Alice-Edward dynamic with her visions and his mind-reading abilities. I thought it was a refreshing way of explaining the story and Stephenie Meyer did a good job with that. Sometimes I would forget we were in the future and coming back to the present felt really disorienting. I can only imagine that is how Alice feels most of the time.
Besides the new perspective and interesting dynamic, I didn’t feel like this book was any different from Twilight. The lack of novelty and the incredibly unhealthy relationship dynamic between Bella and Edward didn’t allow me to fully enjoy the experience. I am of the opinion that if someone hurts you “for your own good” and doesn’t let you make your own decisions; they don’t love you. However, if you are someone who likes possessive and unhealthy vampire relationships tropes and don’t mind a story repeat then you will probably still enjoy Midnight Sun.

a good read but not necessarily a great book ? loved it just bc its twilight. it really didnt need to be 816 pages tho. we get it… bella smells really, really good. and i think i like edward even less after having read this book and i was never a team jacob girlie. i did enjoy reading it. it was mostly entertaining but it just couldve been shorter. im pretty sure it took at least ten pages for alice to navigate edward through traffic in phoenix on their way to rescue bella. like damn

I loved the Twilight series as a teen, and I was hopeful that Midnight Sun would bring back the nostalgia. To an extent it did. I liked that we get to see inside Edward’s brain, see what he was thinking in those moments with Bella, but I almost wish I didn’t have to spend so much time in his head.
I enjoy the story, but Edward is too much much of the time—he is so melancholy and angsty, that he borders on annoying (but I feel like this is because he spends too much time berating himself and wallowing). I feel like at least a hundred less pages would have helped with this.
Midnight Sun won’t be added to my favorites list, and I doubt I will read it again, but reading it did make me want to reread the rest of the series.

Exhausting to be in Edward's head

The turmoil in life currently faded away for a moment as I sunk back into my high school joys. Nostalgia is powerful, and revisiting a story which I enjoyed so much as a young teenager, but with a twist, was just was I needed. Thanks Stephanie.

I loved the Twilight series when it came out! This made me remember that I loved it even if I cringe at the movies
