what a fun read! it was a wonderful mix of mystery, thriller, and crime novel. there were some twists, but this book didn't rely just on plot twists to be engaging... it had amazing characters who were deeply engaged with the story they were living and their reality. i especially loved agent sarah keller (though imagining her solving crime while 8.5 months pregnant with twins was a little ridiculous if you ask me). ella's character was so fascinating and i would love to have a deeper look into her life (though she didn't seem like the most ethical therapist). i figured out the murderer about halfway through but it was fun to see how that played out. i will have to check out more of alex finlay's books - this one was great!

oh, and the narration of the audiobook was perfect and just added to the delight of this book.

was a good paced read- not memorable

I think my anticipation give the book was a lot more than the book itself. I liked the characters but the story itself was just ok. 3.5/5

This was a fun thriller with lots of twists and turns. I loved the 90s nostalgic setting of the Blockbuster. It brought back wonderful, vivid memories of heading to a blockbuster on a Friday night.

I really enjoyed this book and was really glad there was no trigger warnings I had to worry about. That was super nice to not have to navigate in a book.

All in all a great thriller from an author I’d definitely read again.

This was a really good book. I was hooked after the first 4 pages. I enjoyed the details the author had on all the characters. I liked how the author gave you just enough information to make you think about things. I was always left wanting more when I had to put the book down and go back to adulting. I highly recommend this book if you like, suspense, thrills, and murders. My good friend Kat recommended this book and she was on point with this one. Thanks Kat!!

As I read more mystery thrillers lately, I’m coming to appreciate the short succinct chapters, the slow build, the multiple hidden motives and neuroses of all those involved.

Per the blurb, tragedy occurs twice and leaves behind all sorts of victims, the repercussions manifesting in various ways, shaping how a person deals with life and all the enumerate decisions they make.

This had good suspense as the reveals are gradually shown. There’s several complex protagonists here, not without their own setbacks both emotionally and physically. The reader easily becomes invested, discovering motives and long buried awful secrets.

An absorbing read, keeping me on my toes as redemption is found for some and new beginnings for others. Finlay for sure will be an author I’ll revisit!
