This was just such a great, suspenseful, read. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I did not want to put it down!

Not the worst book, but it was very predictable. I called the killer from their introduction, as well as the other deaths that we discover early on. Kind of disappointing.

Also...
I am really frustrated that the promising young brown kid was killed off. He is the only death outside of the murders, and the only death "on the page." Why is the only POC mentioned the only death? Granted, it was clear he was going to die from the moment Finlay introducedhis mother with that "take care of my boy" line. But it is still irritating.

Wow, wow, wow. The ENDING!!!

The Night Shift is probably up there in being one of my favorite thrills. I didn’t see the ending coming at all. I did get one of the plot twists. I liked that two of the three characters had flaws that they were processing through while the whole story was playing out.

The ending was the Epilogue was the sweetest thing đź’•

I’m not a big thriller person, though I think my library’s simply shelved this one as a mystery. Either way, this is outside my standard genres, but I enjoyed it overall.

The audiobook was really, really good—especially Chris and Ella’s narrators

I predicted a couple of the twists but was surprised by a couple others, which is a good mix.

The Chad Parke storyline…. I think the book would’ve been better without it. It was pointless, imo.

Overall, pretty solid I thought.

I thought I had solved this mystery about five times and that this wouldn’t be that good of a book. But about halfway through I realized that I had no idea what was happening and really enjoyed watching the mystery unravel!

An enjoyable read. I brought this to the airport when I picked a friend up and it's literally the perfect airport/airplane book. Entertaining and twisty, but not necessarily one I'd want to read again.

Honestly, this book wasn’t terrible but it also wasn’t great. I don’t like reading thrillers written by men. They feature a lot of dead women and that makes my stomach upset.

The Night Shift by Alex Finlay is easily one of my favourite thriller reads in 2022. I was honestly surprised how fast paced, mysterious, and binge-worthy this book was! The multiple POVs kept me hooked at every turn, and even the little cliff-hangers at the end of each chapter didn't bother me. I was completely enthralled with this book and it was super hard to put it down.

The characters were relatable, even through their tough times. You feel for these characters, and you want an answer... Even if it's not the one we want. The ending will leave you wanting to punch through walls (but don't, because everything is expensive with the supply chain problems these days).

I will give it to Alex Finlay - this is a masterfully crafted book that has left me wanting to read more books by this marvellous author. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a mystery that brings back the nostalgia of the 1990s/2000s, and really makes you think. Plus, short chapters are always great for binge readers like me that sometimes need a wee break (to sleep!).

Five out of five stars!
