I’m a huge  fan of the original Anne of Green Gables, so I was so excited to see this on he shelf of my library. If you are in it for the original/ nostalgia read, all of the characters return, albeit modernized, with some new additions as well.
The beginning was fairly strong, although his nickname was not my favorite, but I really disliked their conflict. Anne went through something that was incredibly difficult, and then Gilbert made it all about himself

This book is 100% Anne/Gilbert fanfic and I am HERE FOR IT. It's delightful.

Super fun, for some reason it felt slow and fast at the same time. There were aspects that I wish were developed more.

Pros
• Their banter before they got together was so adorable and fun.
• Gil was basically written in the image of Timothy Chalet.
• Diana is a delight
• There were an appropriate amount of high and low emotional points.
• This is the most realistically executed hate-to-love romance I’ve ever read. It feels very grounded in reality.
• Slow burn

Cons
Gil examining why him saying “I’m done” was so hurtful to Anne. He understands her history, but doesn’t consider it in the context of what he does and why she reacted the way she did.

• It felt simultaneously fast and slow
• I wish there was more banter/dialogue
• Slow burn
