all the goodness of the show, with extra scenes and details - that's a 5/5 from me!

i started this book in june of last year… it’s now may. in short, the show was 10/10 for me. however, why write a book when it’s 98% verbatim the show? like shonda i love you, but if i wanted to read the script i would’ve just looked it up. also very simple writing for a book that attempts to deal with such heavy topics. this is 100% the last bridgerton book i will waste my time reading!

“I have been longing to [kiss you] again. Every minute of every day.”

“Why?”

“Why? Because you exist. I saw you and I met you and I spoke with you. I am enchanted. I can barely breathe for wanting to kiss you again. Would you let me?”

screaming crying throwing up

I loved the show when I binged it. I wanted a five-star read so I knew this book would come in clutch. Early on, I knew it was going to be the best Bridgerton novel.

I loved the extra details the book gave us such as the racism Charlotte faced here, as well as a look into society from Lady Danbury and then George’s perspective on his marriage. The scene with Venus was so much more jarring from his POV. The Great Experiment was definitely more fascinating in the novel than the show.

“Only a true wife would do that.”

“Am I true wife?”

“Forever.”

An immediate chef’s kiss from the start. All the deeper insight made me love and admire this love story even more than I already have. I’m truly obsessed with them individually and together. Their chemistry is amazing and I love watching them figure things out together to make it all work (reminded me of my relationship ngl lmao look at that. I honestly love it more for that reason. I would reread that part over and over again). Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Even the heavens’ and the earth part was utter perfection. I watch/listen to that scene daily in the show. They are such a powerful couple that I wish I got novels of their whole married life.

“It goes both ways. I am yours."

There are so many quotes I want to write down. I might just buy the damn book at this point. *aggressively adds to cart*

Farmer George is such a dork. I love puns too, my man. The part where he loved Charlotte’s darker skin before he even met her cause the Earth is beautiful? Excuse me?

“It is her honeymoon. She may miss her husband.”

“I think I miss her too.”

Bridgerton Ranking (as of May 2024)
1. Queen Charlotte (5⭐️)
2. The Viscount Who Loved Me (5⭐️)
3. Romancing Mr. Bridgerton (4⭐️)
4. The Duke and I (4⭐️)
